NAPLES, FL — Feb. 14, 2023 — Alpine Supply Chain Solutions, a boutique consulting firm focused on maximizing supply chain investments, today announced Senior Managing Director, Greg Utter, has been named a Food Logistics 2023 Rock Star of the Supply Chain. The award recognizes influential individuals in the industry whose achievements, hard work, and vision have shaped the global cold food supply chain.

Utter has over 35 years of hands-on experience with a broad range of mission-critical supply chain technologies. Over the last 12 months, He has led various software selection projects, including several in the cold food and beverage sector. In each case, the requirements to solve complex supply chain challenges were different and Utter’s unique ability to dig deep, get into the weeds, and surface customer-specific requirements in order to identify the right fit solutions has been key to customer success.

“Not all rock stars are famous musicians. There are several rock stars right here, in the cold chain, promoting workforce development, solving supply chain disruptions, mitigating risks, and helping to heal the supply chain,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

Michael Wohlwend, Alpine’s Managing Principal shares, “Utter is a warehouse management pro. He understands the ins and outs of operations extremely well and his ability to get into detailed processes, technology knowledge, and relatable nature have enabled him to be successful in the most challenging environments. We’re lucky to have him on our team!”

Many of this year’s winners like Utter are actively involved in understanding customers’ needs, creating problem-solving solutions, ensuring the safe transport of cold food and beverages, and adopting sustainable measures. The words used to describe them range from strategic, motivated, and dedicated to passionate, educator, and transformative.

“These rock stars rock. Period. They’re shaping the future of our global cold chains. And, they’re doing so in a way that’s both humble and pragmatic. Every year, I’m honored to celebrate these go-getters, and this year is no exception,” Mayer says.
